A Lifestyle, Grooming And Technology Blog

Spring is now just around the corner and it's time to give your wardrobe a well-earned refresh, so I thought I'd pull together a few of the bits i've gathered from some of my various wish lists around the web.  Who needs a Spring clean when you can have a Spring shop instead am I right?! Most of these are taken from either Mr Porter or End Clothing - my two absolute loves right now.

1. Beige Bomber Jacket - £49.99*

This bomber by Maniere De Voir is lightweight and perfect for getting out and about this spring. Bombers exploded in popularity in the autumn of last year and show no signs of going out of style this season. Made from a smooth nylon fabric, it's a steal at just under 50 quid ribbed collar, hem and cuffs. The quality looks great and it's also available in black, which would be great for casual evenings drinks. Available here.

2. Slim Fit Cotton Blend Shirt - £215

This jacket from Our Legacy is versatile enough to be worn over a casual tee but can also be styled up with formal trousers to create an evening look. It's not cheap at £215 but very unique with a zipped front rather than the usual buttons. It's tightly woven from a durable linen yet still machine washable, which is super handy. It's also slim fit which I always prefer when it comes to shirts, so it shouldn't gather too much on the sleeves or on the chest. Available here

3. APC Wool Blend Shirt - £195

A classic check shirt from is a must for Spring. This APC wool blend plaid shirt is thick enough to be worn over a t-shirt or buttoned on it's own on a warmer day. Again this is slim cut so the fit is snug but not skin tight. I find APC fits really true to size so no need to go up from your usual size for this one. The thin red stripe is a bit unique here and sets it apart from your normal check. APC has a great Spring collection over at End Clothing.

4. Adidas Ultra boost Uncaged - £129

Nobody is owning the premium sneaker market right now more than Adidas. From NMD to Stan Smith and Yeezy they have been responsible for the recent explosion in high end trainers and it shows no signs of coming to a halt anytime soon. The new Ultra boost uncaged is the perfect example of this.

This morning I was greeted by an exciting parcel from one of my favourite menswear sites - End Clothing. One of the best things about End is their next day delivery price of only £4.95 (half that of Mr Porter just saying!).  Inside the iconic brown with white logo packaging were two items i'd had my eye on for a while but decided it was time to treat myself and finally get!

The first was this grey tee from A.P.C, 100% cotton and a bit of a wardrobe staple for Spring & Summer really. I've got loads of grey t-shirt but most of them are pretty plain and not the best quality so I thought it was about time i invested in an upgrade! It's pretty simple and just has the A.P.C logo on the front. Available here

Next up was a sweatshirt I was a bit unsure of from the website but luckily it turned out to be just what I thought. This red sweat from Carhartt is another simple addition but I've not got a whole lot of red in my wardrobe so I thought this would mix things up a bit! Again it's 100% cotton but not the softest feel inside, which is a bit of a shame. I love the bold navy graphic on the front too.. no mistaking where it's from eh? Available here.

Thanks for checking out my latest post. You can shop all of the new arrivals at End Clothing here

It's that time of year when Mothers, Sisters, Girlfriends and the rest of the female population are on the hunt for a perfect Christmas gift for the guys in their life. Hopefully this post will give you a few hints. For this Top 5 I've had a browse around one of my favourite lifestyle brands for some inspiration - Oliver Bonas. They have a fantastic selection of gifts for all budgets. Enjoy!

1. Crosley Dansette Bermuda Console Turntable - £279

First up here's one for the vinyl-loving guy in your life. Crosley has always been a key player in record players but over the past couple of years has really exploded into popularity among twenty somethings everywhere. This is the console turntable, which is at the upper end of the price range for Crosley but certainly one of their most impressive players. It has removable legs so that you can put it on a table top if you prefer and boasts dynamic full range stereo speakers, which basically means it sounds incredible too. Although you can use external speakers or headphones if you like.

2. Marble & Copper Bar Tools Set - £60

Here's one for the guy that loves cocktail hour, but wants to create that same buzz at home! This great looking bar tools set includes a marble base and 100% copper rail and tools that will look at home on any side table along or drinks trolley with his favourite tipples.

3. Where Chefs Eat - £16.95

This next gift is one of my favourites - and incidentally the cheapest of the bunch! Where Chefs Eat is a book comprised of restaurant reviews not by mystery 'experts' but instead by over 600 of the finest chefs in the world. It's the ultimate guide to the best places to eat across various cities around the globe and must-have gift for the discerning foodie.

4. Carrara Marble Espresso Cups & Saucers - £18

Another marble item on the list. For the coffee lover in your life, this set of two espresso cups and saucers will make him want to get the kettle on straight away! Made from marble and packaged in bespoke Oliver Bonas packaging, these make a great gift.

5. Korres Men's Kit - £19

Korres is one of my favourite Mens grooming brands and this kit filled with minis of some of their best products would make a great Christmas stocking filler. It contains 2 shower gels, shampoo, shaving cream and an aftershave balm. Korres is a Greek skincare brand with roots in Athen's first ever Homeopathic Pharmacy. Based on its pharmacy experience in over 3,000 homeopathic remedies of herbal origin, the company today offers a natural and certified organic skin care range.

Thanks for reading, do you have any other Christmas favourites form Oliver Bonas this year?

It feels as if winter is now in full swing, and that means a new coat is on the horizon for some over the next month or so. This week's wish list is one of my favourites so far featured a great value green puffer jacket from Topman, alongside the Photographer's Jacket from Oliver Spencer at a whopping £410. Another favourite is the dark green Jack Wills parka. All prices ranges covered here on The Guy On Trend!

As Summer officially starts coming to a close (boo!) it's time to start thinking about your autumn wardrobe, and what better place to start than a statement denim or bomber jacket? Check out my favourites from the likes of ASOS and All Saints below.

My absolute fave has to be the khaki jacket from ASOS - only £32! Khaki has been a massive trend all year long so let's hope that extends into Autumn. It's 100% polyester hence the price tag but it looks great and is really lightweight so can be worn with a shirt even on slightly warmer evenings over the coming months.

I also love this classic denim trucker jacket from Levis. It's mid-weight so again could still be teamed with a shirt underneath. Looks great paired with a white tee and some skinny ripped jeans.

This week Penfield, the iconic American outerwear brand, dropped it's Autumn Winter collection for 2016 so I thought I'd share a few of my favourite pieces.

The Mountain Parka is one of the original pieces from Penfield's first collection and very little has changed but that's no bad thing. It has a classic parka construction and the material although mostly a cotton/nylon mix never feels to plastic or cheap to the touch. In true parka style there's loads of pockets, some of which are so discrete you'll probably take a few weeks to catch 'em all (standard Pokemon reference...) It's available in a variety of bright colours too, which is great for rainy autumn days!
1. Hooded Parka £160    2. Knit Bomber £125    3. Crew Neck Sweat £70    4. Cotton Check Shirt £70

Penfield have climbed aboard the bomber jacket trend with the Eastport Knit Bomber, made from pure lambswool hence the £125 price tag. It's also got some really nice detailed around the cuffs and zip which make it an Autumn must-have. Also available in navy & black.

The Crew Neck Sweat featuring the iconic Penfield logo is a great addition to the Autumn Winter collection. It's made from super soft 100% cotton including a fleecy lining which feels great. Definitely one for the Wishlist and reasonably priced at £70

Last but by no means least is the Barrhead Check Shirt, which is another 100% cotton piece making it super lightweight and breathable. The cotton has also been brushed giving it more of a 'lived in' feel which looks great, although after a few washes the softness does tend to fade. The Barrhead is listed as classic fit which I wouldn't normally go for but I find Penfield normally fits a size smaller than expected anyway.

So that's it! Those are my favourite pieces from the Autumn Winter collection. Do you have any favourites? What other brands are looking great this season?

Topman is one of my favourite high street stores. Great value and for the most part great quality to match. Here's my top pieces from their autumn collection, which dropped couple of weeks back. My two favourites have to be the green brushed twill shirt and the classic skinny chino. Green is certainly a theme this season and I'm happy with that!

  • Black Suede Zip Boots - £50
  • Check Wool Blend Coach Jacket - £65
  • Green Brushed Twill Long Sleeve Casual Shirt - £30
  • Khaki Borg Lined Hooded Jacket - £65
  • Stone Stretch Skinny Chinos - £25
  • Black Ripped Denim Long Sleeve Casual Shirt - £35
  • Mid Wash Stretch Skinny Jeans - £38

Now that Autumn is well and truly upon us, it's time to think about picking up some more cool weather pieces like a jacket or chunky knitted jumper. Here's a few of my top picks from Barbour's new Autumn Winter collection, which dropped earlier this week...

Bristol Wax Jacket - ASOS

The waxy jacket above is a real classic. Perfect for cooler evenings paired with a pair of jeans. It's available from ASOS and I think I'm going to have to pick one of these up this year. There's lots of alternatives from the high street but nothing quite compares to the original waxy Barbour.

Motorcycle Print T-Shirt - ASOS

I love this motorcycle T-shirt, also available from ASOS. The site describes it as regular fit but it appears to fit more like slim for the photos, which I prefer anyway.

Tartan Chick Shirt - ASOS

This check shirt looks great and it really sums up the classic British heritage Barbour style. I don't own many green shirts either so I'm definitely going to have a closer look at this over the next few weeks.
Tweed Holdall - ASOS

This tweed holdall would make a great weekend bag if you're planning a city break this Autumn. It also has a stylish leather address card holder and Barbour logo patch.

Reiss is one of my favourite places to shop for workwear as well as sharp casual wear staples like brogues or slim cut knits. Here's a few of my favourites from their Autumn Winter 2015 collection, which dropped earlier this week

  1. Contrast hem jumper - £90
  2. Leather trim backpack - £170
  3. Pocket polo shirt - £50
  4. Button down shirt - £70
  5. Jack Purcell leather trainers - £95

I love these iconic Jack Purcell Converse in white leather. They can be paired with a casual skinny or slim jeans but also styled with a more formal shirt or knit like the contrast hem jumper. Made from a blend of wool and cashmere, this crew neck is super soft and effortlessly stylish - not a price price either for that kind of quality. Perfect for cooler evenings this autumn.

I've been on the hunt for a leather backpack recently and this black number really ticks all the boxes. It doesn't come cheap at £170 considering it's only leather trim, but really looks the part. It also comes with various zip compartments and two adjustable shoulder straps. Great for the office or a weekend break.

What have been your menswear favourites so far for Autumn/Winter?

Unfortunately as we approach the end of August, Autumn is now upon us so it's time to add some key pieces to your wardrobe before the inevitable British drizzle and cool evenings arrive.

Here's a few of my favourite pieces from the new Oliver Spencer AW 15 collection, which dropped at the end of last week. I love this heritage brand because they create a variety of capsule collections that enable to mix and match between a few pieces to create lots of different outfits.

Take the Scar Tee, which can be worn either on it's own with a pair of skinny jeans or teamed with an unbuttoned navy shirt like the Clerkenwell Tab. The Doctor's bag is a real investment at almost £400 but again goes with so much of the AW 15 collection.

Links for my favourite pieces are below.

  1. Cali Crew Jersey - £110
  2. Clerkenwell Tab Shirt - £99
  3. Slim Fit Jean Hexton Denim - £159
  4. Doctor's Bag - £389
  5. Scar Tee - £69

Are there any other brands that are already launching a must-have AW15 collection?
